Happy 1st Anniversary, darling Q ...

...or it would have been.

Went to Mass this morning, but I just couldn't stop the tears.  Fr. Chris was so kind afterwards.  Lit a candle for you, and pray others keep you in their prayers too.  Had a lovely lunch Sunday with your parents and Nelam and her boyfriend, Ben.  I see so much of you in your parents and them in you.

I pray someday we will be together again.

Karen, I am crying as I read this. Part of it comes from the frustration that good people like you and Q. had to go through this; life just isn't fair. But I will keep you both in my prayers today. Q. is your champion in Heaven.

Oh, thank you. It's just so hard. The Home Office is making it so difficult for me to 'carry on' with life. STILL NO WORD, this after the judge had ordered 'urgent' and they didn't contest it. I *DID* get up to London on Saturday, by myself. The first time I had such an outing since Nov. 2010 for Thanksgiving. [Q & I had been to London together to Mass when we could, but I'm talking about doing something for fun, alone.] Was going to go to the Theatre Museum -- which I'd been to in the 80s. The website indicated the hours, and that admission was free -- got there, no, it had closed. But at least that was right by Covent Garden, which Q and I both loved...we'd been together shortly before Christmas of 2010 when all the decorations were out and the big tree was lit and the music was playing -- I have a bit of video from that and photos. Sat. there were two older fella with a unicycle act in front of the church -- somehow oddly appropriate. On the way back though, there was a Waterstone's conveniently placed, where I was able to get Q's mum the book I'd wanted to get her for Christmas -- so at least there was a silver lining!

I came here yesterday and read and caught up with your blog Karen. I am so sorry for the loss that you had and all the suffering you have endured. Prayers for you and for Q.

Prayers for you, too.

Thanks Therese and Amy for the kind words. On a positive note, my friend Stephen informs me that the collection that was at the Theatre Museum has been moved to the V&A ... which is quite easy to get to from where I live -- within an hour if I take public transport. Though the weather is pretty good but chilly out (Brits call this 'extreme cold' though I wouldn't put it that way) and I'm still somewhat achy from last week and it *might* snow - I think I'll put off going to this Friday when the V&A has long hours. Or next Sat. Computer geeking today -- hunting up what job skills are in demand around here that I can do - trying to figure out the best path for updating computer skillset that would take the least time. My problem is that all the newer webtype stuff I can do is self-taught and none of it on a professional resume. And then all my job reference people are in the US ... as well as my degrees (oh, I scanned them in as a matter of course ages ago...but would that count?) ... 17 years of IT stuff in programming etc...but how to prove it. Ah, well. On the plus side this end of greater London seems to have some pretty big companies just with a few miles of me. right now I'd take a job cleaning toilets there just to get something WHEN the home office gets around to pulling it out of their backsides. Anyway, if I lobbed a rock a few times (literally!) I could just about hit IBM and SAP. And there's RICOH in town as well. I'd gladly take data entry for now. Wish there was someway to take certification tests for things without spending a fortune for same. The British seem to want paper/certs for everything -- but often, to judge by what they test their students on (if you go by the Daily Torygraph!) they seem to test on outmoded or relevant stuff! Go figure.
