Clearly US Immigration Courts have a different understanding of Asylum from that of the EU : unless she could prove she was politically active, I don't think she'd have had a hope of getting asylum anywhere in Europe !
(Mind you, I'm not sure that he does, either, once his tenancy of 1600 Pennsylvania expires - and he may need it more than she does, as far as I can see !)
