Top Ten Posts Meme

.
Neat.
Swiss Miss over at St. Monica's Kneeler indirectly tagged me to post my favorite 10 posts that I did this year. (Fat chance of me keeping to 10.)

In no particular order:

1. God Almighty, Please Forgive Me - I finally let loose on that "thing" hanging in the sacristy.

2. Ladies: Great Anglo-American Tag Team Co-operation - I got "engaged." Special Thanks to Mrs. Jackie Parkes, and Mac for kicking it off. Special thanks to Peterkins for not killing me.

3. Happy 108th Birthday - A Tribute to my Grandmother (and Grandpop too.)

4. 79 is the New 58 - Happy Birthday, Msgr. S. -- The Sainted Msgr. gets his due.

5. If I was the Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster I Would - AKA "I Brake for Blake"
Thanks to Philip over at Carpe Canem and Fr. Blake himself for the inspiration.

6. Chutzpah - Karen lets it fly on incompetent idiots running this diocese

7. How do you Envision Heaven - I got serious here

8. Our Lady and My Dad

9. Brideshead Revisited, My Favorite Passage - Jesu Christi, in principo, nunc, et semper aeterna. (I'm too lazy to look up the Latin to see if I spelled everything right.)

10. A Favorite - Jesus Christ gives a poor dog a bone.

11. igPay atinLay ocksRay! - Pig latin is bitchen. (Like I can stick to 10 of anything.)

12. Favorite Movies with Religious Themes - This one gets hit almost every day.

13. Favorite Musicals (at least of the moment) - I had fun picking out the sound clips on this one. Thoroughly self indulgent. 'cuz.

14. Damn Yankees - Son of Redux -- Karen splains what makes good theatre costumes, and links a lot of photos. Not that anyone cared specially, but I figure it's for posterity.

15. Sex Ed in the Early 1970s - Or "Why Burt Reynolds still owes Karen."

I think Ma Beck tagged everyone who drives on the left side of the Road. (Mac, c'mon already....) I will tag all those who drive on the right side of the road. Oh, and I also tag those of you who don't drive at all!

What?? WHAT? What am I supposed to have done now??

Karen:
Glad you took this on since I didn't want to really tag anyone with the rash of memes going around. Didn't want to alienate people by being evil :)

If I had to pick one post, it was the Burt Reynolds one. I can't even really explain why, but it reminded me of a more innocent time (despite the subject matter!). I also liked your Shakespeare post because I learned something and it related to my bible study.

Mac, I think Ma Beck tagged you on this one. I'm curious to see what your answers are too.

Swiss: I was surprised how much I enjoyed "the watermelon" post too -- I think for precisely for the same reasons you did. There was a lot of wild goings on in the 60s and 70s pre-AIDS -- but it was still relatively innocent. I'm honestly shocked that young kids were exposed [pardon the choice of word] to things like the Clinton scandal and also the graphic nature of what is being presented in schools. Yes. By all means, teach the plumbing -- but all that condom stuff and probing students with personal questions -- leave that out of it.

No... don't think so...

Hey, how about ditching the word verification?

The pig latin was great. My Mom was "fluent" in pig speak.

By the way - are you getting married??????????????

Mac, has anyone had a problem with not having word verification? The reason I ask is because I do want to know it's a "real person" because I don't hold my posts to be checked for comments - so far everyone's be pretty good about that. I think Mabeck tagged you on this one with an "everybody who drives on the left hand side of the road....unless you're always three sheets to the wind and drive on the right. :-D

Is there anyone else around here that doesn't use word verify who lets people post right away? 'cuz sometimes I have to type the word verification thang twice myself.

Adrienne, my God, how did you miss that one?! check the link and you'll see the relevant ones. Matter of fact, I need a florist for the thing. How does 20,000 day lilies sound?

I think Peterkins is thoroughly mortified by now, but he'll just have to get used to my Yankee sense of humor and my half-Sicilian Godfather.

I have to admit that I don't know anyone who doesn't moderate comments who doesn't use word verification...

...but I get a little bit frustrated when it makes me do the verification twice. Occasionally a comment of mine has been lost when I missed the fact it didn't "take" and I couldn't be bothered to write it out again...

Oh, and Ma tagged me on books not posts...

gemoftheocean said...

Well, geez, Mac, do the BOOKS one, then tag ME on that 'cuz I there was one I really wanted to do. :-D

I should write these damn blogger volken to find out why sometimes the stupid word has to be typed twice...though actually, I've never tried hitting that handicapped thingie and seeing what THAT does...maybe it automatically puts it in for us....that would be easier....

I'm glad this particular meme appeared under your post because I can make some observations & do it in 1 post:
1. Did you realize there's a double entendre in the "Maidenform" post? (Hint: only women can parallel park in this manner)
2. I think the problem with the word verification is sometimes the characters are so distorted that its hard to determin what character they are or how many there are (G's become Q's, h's become b's, etc.)
3. There's something else but I can't remember (senioritis) so it will have to wait....

Oh you're not married yet then? lol

Jackie, your sons are going to be the principle servers! I'm winning the lottery and putting up your entire family, Charlie too, at the Hotel Del Coronado!

AA: I freely admit every time I have to parallel park I pray to God I don't have to make a 52 point turn. I *DID* do it correctly for my driving test, many moons ago, much to my surprise, because I followed my instructors instructions to the letter. Sometimes I do it right by accident. I try not to go anywhere where I many have to parallel park on a busy street. Residential streets have ample parallel parking. And yes, when "they" have the v's and m's together ... geez.

gemoftheocean said...

Oh, and AA!!! Took me a good two :-D minutes to figure out what you meant. ROTFL. I'm funnier than even I knew I was. sheesh. I'm leaving it in there! That particular tag and use of that picture for my website came to me all in one flash. So I'm leaving it in as "insprired."

Karen, sometime my comments go over my own head. And I oftem parallel park only when I can pull straight into the parking spot without backing in. I'd much rather pay to park then go "back & forth" to make sure I'm close enough to the curb (and my driving test was just about the same "moon" as yours was).

The handicapped thingy means that you get a lot of background noise and then some numbers read out over them so you type the numbers rather than the letters... it's even more annoying than the word verification...
