You Passed the US Citizenship Test |
Congratulations - you got 10 out of 10 correct! |
[H/T to Monica who "only" got 9 of 10 :-D I expect she read one of them too quickly or balked on the year the constitution was written.[
Right minded Woman on the Left Coast. Lately she's been overheard in Mayfair...

8/10 - so I passed. Not bad, considering that I'm not American.
I daresay you got a lot more right than many of our citizens! I aadmit the one on the date the consitituion was written took me a couple seconds but I remembered.
I was a history major, and *well* can I remember one of the profs at UCSD (university of Cal. at San Diego) berating a class (it was in European Diplomatic History, if memory serves) for people in class not automatically coughing up dates when they citied events in their midterm essay answers. (hope you can follow tht syntax, it's the drugs! ;-D)
[Fortunately I had peppered my own arguments and narrations with dates, being pretty good at them.)
"How can you people formulate arguments without reference to timelines and concurrencies?" or words to that effect.
Some people managed not to throw a single date in!
I actually took a year of American history in Grammar school, though I dropped history after GCSE.
As an English person (with American ancestors way back) I did the test and am ashamed to say I only got three right and those were probably guessed! stephen did well!
Pelerin, believe me you did as well as many Americans would have!
Karen:
The one I missed (I mentioned it on my blog in response to your comment) was the one on the Commander in Chief. Just seemed like a trick question.
And, that Constitution one was a give-me because of School House Rock. I learned ALL my history that way :) "In 1787, I'm told, our Founding Fathers all sat down, to write a list of principles, known the world around." Think Vincenzo has it on his blog so you can see the youtube clip. Score: Saturday morning cartoons - 1, all my public school learnin' - 0.
BTW: I thought Stephen was banned from quizzes...he gets them all right...even a US Citizenship quiz. Something is not right with the world. I'd fail a Brit quiz of any form, history, civics, pop culture, you name it, I'd fail. I can't even take a US quiz and do appreciably better than the man. (thus ends whiny rant :)
Nope, Stevie's good on this one...He just can't play on the Musical Theatre ones outside of the "expert" category, cuz I know he'd destroy the average sort of quiz like that in a nano-second. [He's a doctoral candidate in Theatre :-D so he has a great leg up on all the sort of questions I'd ask of a general audience!] :-D These questions were all pretty tame by rec.arts.theatre.musicals standard of old usenet days.
Oh, and Swiss: I can't believe you faked yourself out!!! :-D I think I'd do fairly well on a Brit quiz .. unless they'd ask "Dr. Who" questions. But then I was a European History Major. [American History I absorbed through osmosis.]
