51st Birthday

.
I'd like to thank my mom and dad, Catherine and Edward Horn, co-creators with Almighty God.

What strikes me is not so much how young I am, but how young my parents are.

And the church still owes us Sept. 18th babies St. Joseph of Cupertino for a feast day.

Since you kind of like all things Brit, how's this:

"You say it's your birthday
It's my birthday too, yeah
They say it's you birthday
We're gonna have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy birthday to you

Yes we're going to a party, party
Yes we're going to a party, party
Yes we're going to a party, party

I would like you to dance (birthday)
Take a cha-cha-cha-chance (birthday)
I would like you to dance (birthday)
Ooo, dance, yeah

Hope you have a wonderful, happy, blessed birthday!

Swissmiss: perfect for the occasion! I'm not looking forward to turning 64 though. I think I'll skip that one and just go straight on to 65. Or say I'm having 63b. On the other hand, I could say I'm 33 today. Who said we had to use base 10? Hexcidecimal has its uses.

Jackie- YEah, "they" definitely owe us St. Joe, he of the levitating art. "They" made him say mass in private.

I think you share your birthday with Jackie Parkes, Catholic mother of 10.

Thanks everybody. Didn't do anything particularly special this year. Last year a very wise friend, Michele and I made a visit up to the Benedictine Monastery to visit with Abbot Claude, who is close to 100 years old (my link to Fr. Stephanos, on my blog roll is a member of that community.)

It's hard to feel "old" at 50 when Abbot Claude insists on removing

your tray from the table to bus. He said JUST the right things to me and was as wonderful as ever. Today I just "kicked it" until I went into work - just let the housework go more to hell in a handbasket than it normally does - slept late, and watched movies and scarfed part of a white cake with strawberry buttercream iceing. Can't complain. I could be living in a hole in Calcutta somewhere. Right now, I've just been flipping dials and have landed on a Jimmy Stuart movie - oh, wait VERTIGO - I thought it had that Hitchcock flair. I've only seen V. once or twice. [I ADORE Jimmy Stuart - ditto Cary Grant - don't get me started on TO CATCH A THIEF.

Oh, and Tara - I've got the 45 record plastic inserts and metal skate key and Chatty Cathy to prove it! ;-D

Update to my note:
I was just reading Fr. Stephanos's blog, and he reports that Abbot Claude died on Sept. 17th - he would have been 99 this November. Funeral Mass and burial at the Benedictine Abbey on Sept 27 starting at 11:00.

My friend Michele will be especially saddened, as Abbot Claude was her confessor.
