Oh, HUSH, Egan

Okay, Is Egan going to drag this out ... he's going on, and on with this welcome, which should NOT be part of the Mass. Shut up, already! The pope is 81 and if you keep flapping your stupid jaws he's going to have to go to the bathroom before Mass is over. It ain't about you, baby. [I thought the entrance song was well sung, and this bozo is taking it down to the mundane. Pope Benedict, PLEASE wave this dingleberry away.]

Egan's elongated pronunciations are driving me crazy. I wish the pope would light up a cigarette, it might make Egan shut up. [God, now that idiot Egan is prattling in Spanish...gimmee a break...wake me when he gets to the Eskimoes....]

I sorta hated to pull the nuclear graphic, but he was asking for it!!!! I was saving it for a special occasion, and this seemed to warrant it.

Ah, darn, I missed all the fun! Was at the cabin without phone or TV so I was spared the pleasure.

Swiss, I watched it again online at the www.ewtn.com site -- I timed Egan's remarks this time -- Almost TEN minutes.

A good friend of mine was in the seminary in the 1960s that the pope had visited, many of his contemporaries became bishops, etc. Apparently, Egan is, shall we say, a little less than liked by those he can assign to outter Mongolia. A friend of my friend says "He can stand there like King **** pontificating on ABSOLUTELY nothing, but does it because he apparently has one of those 'I'm king **** and you have to listen to me" attitudes.

I think that welcome showed that on display.

But really, otherwise I thought the Mass went very well. It's very difficult to pull off a good liturgy in a venue like that, manifestly designed for other things. Overall, they managed. Too bad the one real downer was the cardinal.
